WriterDuet Workflow: How to Create Script Sides
Need to create character sides for auditions or rehearsals? Distributing on-set production sides for scenes that are being shot on the day? WriterDuet makes it easy to generate sides by exporting specific scenes or pages, or by filtering scenes to dialogue read by a specific character(s).
Export Specific Pages or Scenes
Use this method if you want to select exact page ranges or scene numbers for your sides.
- Export Specific Pages
- Export Specific Scenes
- Important: Scene Numbers must be turned on for this to work
Character Scenes Filter (Paid Feature)
Perfect for when you only want to include scenes read by a specific character(s).
- Filter by Character Scenes
- Note: Editing the filtered content will apply to the main document, as this is only a filtered view of the main document.
- Once your script is filtered, you can:
- Export a PDF and print or share with your team
- This will export only the currently filtered script view
- Export a PDF and print or share with your team
OR
- This is a great option for remote auditions or rehearsals.
- Share a link with your actor(s); no need to attach a PDF
- If you make script changes later, you can update the link without needing to resend anything
- Actors can use the highlight tool to easily mark their lines in the ReadThrough document
- This is a great option for remote auditions or rehearsals.
Bonus: Add Watermarks (Paid Feature)
To protect your script during casting/production, consider applying a watermark (e.g., actor’s name, “Do Not Distribute,” etc.) before exporting or sharing.
