Open a Document
A document is the content you are crafting. Need to have two versions of the same script in the same project? Need to create a document for character descriptions? Easily done!
*Note: Creating more than one document per project is available with a paid subscription. Update your subscription today!

Open a Document
From the Project Widget
Newly opened documents will appear in tab the right of the tab that is being viewed.
- With the desired project open, go to the Project widget
- Select the document you would like to open
*Use Cmd/Ctrl when clicking to open documents in tabs quickly. This will load the document in a tab without automatically navigating to it.
OR
- With the desired project open, go to the Project widget
- Right-click or select the three-dot icon on the desired document
- Select Open
- To open the document in Split Pane, select Open in Split Pane. See Use Split Pane for more.
From the Portfolio
- Open the portfolio
- Select the desired Project
- The Project Documents are displayed to the right
- Double-click the desired document OR select the document and then select Open
From Recently Opened
- Select File > Open Recent
- Click to open the desired document
Add a New Document - Paid Feature
- Open the Project widget
- Select Add Document
- Name the document
- Select the desired template
- As needed, you can make this document private. Collaborators will not see this document in the list or be able to access it. See Make Document Private or Public for details.
- Select the desired View for this document (This is simply the default opening view. It can still be viewed in any of the other views at any time.)
- Page View
- Cards View
- Mind Map View
- Select Create
Change an Active Document's View
- Select View from the main menu
- Select the desired view
- Page View
- Cards View
- Mind Map View
Change Document's Default View
If you change your mind about the view you would like a document to open in, you can change it through the document's options in the Project widget.
- Open the Project widget
- Select the three dots to the right of the document
- Select Default view
- Select the desired view
- Page View
- Cards View
- Mind Map View
- A new tab will open with the document in the desired view
Close a Document
Each open document is under a tab in the editing area.
- Select the X on the right edge of the tab for the document you would like to close
OR
- While viewing the document you would like to close, select File > Close Tab
Close All Other Documents
This will close all of the documents that are open except the one you want to keep open.
- Click on the tab for the document you would like to keep open
- Select File > Close All Tabs Except Current
