Dictate
Verbally dictate text into your WriterDuet project via your device’s microphone. The dictate function uses your browser's dictation and recognizes line types, so that after you say "Press Enter", you can say your desired line type and it will format accordingly.
*Only available in the browser version of WriterDuet.

Turn on Dictate
- Select Edit > Dictate, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D
- When activated, the Dictate feature will appear in the Modes widget on the right of your display
Basic Commands
While using Dictate, you can not only speak your text but also control formatting with simple voice commands:
- "Press enter": Moves to a new line, just like pressing the Enter/Return key on your keyboard
- "Press enter [line type]": Moves to a new line and changes that line to the specified line type
- For example:
- Say "Press enter character" to switch to a Character line
- Say "Press enter action" to switch to an Action line

Turn off Dictate
When you're finished dictating, you can turn it off by taking one of the following steps:
- Select Edit > Dictate again
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D
- Select the x next to the Dictate feature in the Modes widget on the right of your display
