Find Your Content

Your work automatically and continually syncs to the WriterDuet servers when the app is online. With multiple layers of built-in backups and additional backup options, you can be sure we are working tirelessly to keep your work secure.

If you complete any work offline, your content will sync once you are connected to the internet. To learn more about how your work is saved, see Save a Project. To learn more about working offline, see Write Offline

I'm looking for my latest edits in a project.

Option 1Multiple Projects Is it possible that you have multiple copies of the project under File > Open Project?

Option 2
Multiple Documents Could there be a different version in the Project widget? If so, check those to see if that's actually where you were working last.

  • Open the Project widget by clicking the Project icon (Flow, Simplified, Hybrid, and Mobile Layouts) or through the Project Documents tab (Classic Layout)

Option 3
Different Device or Browser/App Are you on a different device or app/browser than the one that you were last using when working on this project? If so, it's possible that the content didn't sync due to a network or Wi-Fi issue, but that it is still cached offline on that device and app/browser that you were last working on.

  • If so, try going back to that device or app/browser to see if it's there.
  • If it is, ensure that it gets synced by waiting for the green checkmark over the save icon in the left sidebar or top right corner (depending on your chosen layout).
    • Hover over the icon for more information about the most recent saves.
  • You can also export from that device using File > Export > WriterDuet (.wdz) or Final Draft (.fdx) to ensure that you have the file. Then, you can import into a new project on a different device that doesn't have the same network issues.

Option 4
Locally Saved Backups If you're on the same device and browser/app as when you were last working on this project, check under Help > Locally Saved Backups

  • If you see a recent backup there that has your content:
    • Click the desired backup
    • Click the Select All button to select all of the backup text
    • Copy it and paste it into a WriterDuet project
      • It should auto-format.

Option 5Title Page Check to see if your content was added in your Title Page through File > Title Page.

  • If your content is there, we recommend copying and pasting it into your Default Document.

Option 6No Luck If you are still not having any luck, email us at help@writerduet.com with the following details:

  • Your name
  • What the name and URL (web address) of the project is
  • Any other details about your troubleshooting steps

I'm searching for my project.

Option 1Portfolio Check under File > Open Project to see if the project is listed there.

Option 2
Archive Check your Portfolio's Archive.

  • Select File > Open Project.
  • With the Portfolio open, select Open Archive to see if the project is listed there.
  • If so, select Move to Portfolio or right-click to select Move to Portfolio.

Option 3
Direct to Server Are most of your projects there, but not the one you are looking for? If so, try loading from the server only (rather than the faster offline script list), at this link: https://writerduet.com/script?online#_portfolio

Option 4
Different Account Check to ensure you are logged in under the correct email.

  • Go to Help > Account to see what email the account is under.
  • If this is not the correct email, logout and back in using the appropriate email address.

Option 5
Caching If you are not seeing any of your content, this could be an issue with the app's or browser's cache.

  • If you are in the browser, in a separate private/incognito window, log in to your account to see if your content is displaying correctly.
    • If it is, go back to your regular browser and log out and back in and you should see the content display as it did in the private/incognito window.
  • If you are in the desktop/mobile app, go to a browser and log in to see if your content is displaying correctly.
    • If it is, go back to the desktop/mobile app and log out and back in and you should see the content display as it did in the browser.

Option 6
No Luck If you are still not having any luck, email us at help@writerduet.com with the following details:

  • Your name
  • The email addresses you have tried
  • What the name and URL (web address) of the project is
  • Whether you've used File > Delete or the Archive tool recently
  • Any other details about your troubleshooting steps
