Notes Overview

Taking notes and leaving notes are essential parts of the writing process whether you are crafting the work or editing. WriterDuet has provided a variety of ways to create notes for your project that can suit your workflow.

Comments

Sometimes referred to as margin notes or embedded notes. When reviewing and editing, this is our recommended way of leaving notes in the document. This feature includes a variety of additional options that allow you to color code comments, track resolved and unresolved comments, view comments from specific collaborators, and more! See the full article on Comments to learn more.

To leave a comment:

  1. Hover the cursor over or click in the line you would like to leave a comment on
  2. Select the comment bubble that appears in the left margin
  3. Type the comment
  4. Press Enter/Return
    1. The comment will appear in the same color as your user icon, with your name, and a time stamp.
    2. Lines with comments will have a visible solidly outlined comment bubble

Note Lines

Just as there are line types for Scene, Action, Dialogue, etc. There is a line type for Notes. This allows you to place notes directly in the script.

  2. Change the line type to Note
    1. Press Ctrl/Cmd + 9

  3. If there is not already content in the line, add the desired content.
    1. Note lines will appear in gray. You can change text color for the line type through Customize Format

Outline Lines

Similar to Note lines, Outline lines are directly linked to your Scene Headings. Once a line is assigned as an Outline line, turning on and off the Outline Mode will allow you to see them in Page view or even filter your view to just Scene Headings and Outline lines in Cards View and Mind Map.

  2. Change the line type to Outline
